All Events include Observing (weather permitting).
This year, Dr Alan Longstaff will talk about the objects in our Solar System.
Some are easy to see with the naked eye. Others need Binoculars and Telescopes. Most are just too small, too dark, or waiting to hit our atmosphere before coming to light.
Monday May 9th 2016. Transit of Mercury
The Transit of Mercury will be visible in the UK. Time 12.00am till 6pm.

We are teaming up with Shropshire Astronomical Society for this event in Carding Mill Valley. In addition to a selection of Solar Observing equipment which you will be able to use, there will be things to do and see as well.

Alan explains: What are comets, where do they come from and what has the Philae/Rosetta mission taught us? Did our oceans come from comets four billion years ago?

Saturday Dec 3rd 2016. 8pm Dwarf planets: recent missions to Ceres and Pluto.
Ceres and Pluto were once thought to be planets: what has changed? Why has the New Horizons mission to Pluto so shocked astronomers? What are the mysterious white spots on Ceres seen by the Dawn mission? Answers from Alan!
